'Datavase 1’ and ‘Datavase 2', are the first two material outcomes of the 'Datavase System', exploring diachronic consolidation, as well as a certain tension between systematic form and artisanal imperfections.
The development of the 'Datavase System' started with the discovery of an image published by the U.S. National Museum entitled ‘History of Vase’. This image represents the history of the vase, from prehistoric times to the present, in 27 forms. The Datavase System is hence based on these existing models, exploring universalizability and its limits, while also functioning as a database of templates providing an endless number of solutions for turning new form on the pottery wheel.
